The next battle
My perspective today is discouraging, not because I now believe the “system” has no cracks through which we can insert a wedge, or that I stopped considering Internet as a valuable tool or simply an excuse, to put pressure over the groups of power.
What brings me down the most is people around me don’t seem to care about the current situation, like I’m bothering them with so much philosophy, critical thought. In the end, the sensation left is that everyone is just looking for keeping on with their lives.
I went through this thousand times always giving for granted that it was me, maybe with some cynical side of my personality. That my country was lousy (which actually is), that people have different idiosyncrasy according to their countries.
However, the global facts occurred since 2008 show that in this struggle, there are no countries. The flow of investment capitals is 14 (fourteen) times the World commerce. That is equivalent to say that financial markets, with absolutely no inertia, and as fluid as an electronic transaction, can manage the world economy at their own will.
I don’t think that now the solution may be found in gathering in squares to shout out the “truth” or the anger. My perception today is that it’s going to be much worse and slower: hard work and lots of discouragement. Today, the battle has to be fought with our closest neighbours, family and friends, instead of politicians / governments / financial systems. The latter, all feel, see themselves and most worryingly have been, backed by citizens and their votes. THIS IS THE TRUE REALITY.
It is not feasible that anyone should play the role (not to speak of leadership) even of “coordination”. It’s a titanic and sterile task.
On the contrary, I do believe we need to open discussion in each opportunity, with each friend, without pressing too much, only just dropping a few “unusual” images or ideas, that might trigger curiosity, restlessness. Notions that will make them feel a bit more distressed and get ready to bump into a reality, too heavy to bear looking directly at it.
We will face difficult years next, in terms of Society as a whole.
Individually, each one of us will manage to get by more or less as we can.
Mi perspectiva es desalentadora, y no porque crea que el “sistema” no tiene flancos débiles por los cuales atacar o porque haya dejado de ver en Internet una herramienta o simplemente una excusa para presionar sobre los grupos de poder.
